Dept. of Botany organized an exhibition cum sale of hands-on training products and fruit fest – ‘Pragathi’ on 30th January 2020 at Platinum Piaza. A wide variety of hands-on training products prepared by final year B.Sc. Botany students were exhibited for sale. Homemade chocolates with unique flavors, various processed fruit products, mushrooms, vermicompost, decorated waste bottles, ornamental plants, homemade food products, etc. were exhibited. Charts explaining the significance of each product were also displayed. The Centre of attraction of the programme was a fruit tree which was made from banana pseudo-stem with fruits attached to the whole trunk. An exhibition of more than 60 different exotic and indigenous fruits was also arranged as part of the fest. Dr. I’ma Neerakkal conducted a fruit quiz at lunch break for students especially from other departments. The fest concluded with an auction of fruits which were exhibited on the same day. Pragathi received good reviews from both staff and student community of the S.H. College. The whole programme was strictly based on eco-friendly concept and all the biodegradable wastes were properly disposed of. The programme came to the end at 5.30 pm.
